I really didn’t.
But at some point I started reaching for it… and now it’s just everywhere.
It’s not loud like cinnamon.
It’s not sweet like vanilla.
It doesn’t try to be the main character.
It just sits there and makes everything feel warmer.
I think that’s why I like it.
I don’t know it just makes sense to me.
It just works.
And lately, if something feels like it’s missing something
it’s usually cardamom.
Overthinking at 2AM
This one wasn’t supposed to have cardamom in it.
It started as coffee and chocolate and late-night energy… like the kind of cookie that keeps you up thinking about things you didn’t need to think about.
But it felt a little sharp.
Cardamom softened it.
Not in a dramatic way—it just rounded everything out so it didn’t feel so intense.
Still chaotic.
Just slightly more comforting.
Relief
This one makes more sense.
Brown butter, cinnamon sugar, soft crumb… it’s already good.
But the cardamom makes it feel like you can actually sit down and breathe for a second.
Which is the whole point.
Secure Attachment
This one is calm. Soft. Not trying too hard.
And the cardamom just… fits.
It’s golden. Regulated. Glowing.
I didn’t grow up thinking about spices like this.
But I did grow up around food that felt warm and familiar without needing to explain itself.
That’s what cardamom feels like to me.
I’m not saying everything needs it.
But I’m also not not saying that.
